Multi-stakeholder event drives collaboration among delegates of the United Nations OSPOs for Good symposium.
The Linux Foundation, in partnership with Apache Software Foundation and OSPO++, is excited to host "What's Next for Open Source?," a collection of curated content tracks and workshops focusing on actionable next steps coming out of the United Nations OSPOs for Good 2024 Symposium. Taking place today in New York City, with support from GitHub, Microsoft, and Red Hat, the event will explore opportunities to further open source innovation, security, and collaboration, with the goal of accelerating the use of open source worldwide in a sustainability context. In addition to hosting organizations and sponsors, What’s Next for Open Source? features content tracks led by numerous open source partner organizations, including Bitergia, CHAOSS, Digital Public Goods Alliance, Open Source Security Foundation (OpenSSF), Open Source Initiative, SAS, TODO Group, and Zentrum Digitale Souveränität.
The event will cover a wide range of topics crucial to the future of open source, with emphasis on the process of building and scaling open source program offices (OSPOs) as hubs for organizational open source success, as well as discussions on how to make open source secure and sustainable for everyone. Attendees will further explore the importance of transparent and open software development, the implications of open source AI, how to leverage open source for social good, and how to facilitate responsible and sustainable development practices.
