Takehisa Katayama and Emilio Salvador will serve two-year terms, helping to shape the Foundation’s strategic vision.
SAN FRANCISCO – February 21, 2025 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, is pleased to announce the election of two representatives to its Board of Directors. Takehisa Katayama from Renesas has been reelected to represent Gold Members and Emilio Salvador from GitLab has been elected to represent Silver Members of the Linux Foundation. Both will serve two-year terms, helping to shape the Foundation’s strategic vision as it continues to drive open source innovation, collaboration and adoption.

About Takehisa Katayama (Gold Member)
Takehisa Katayama is a Director at Renesas Corporation, a leading global semiconductor manufacturer. With over nine years at Renesas, Takehisa has played a key role in developing and maintaining Linux and open source software-based embedded systems for Renesas' RZ MPUs, which power high-end Arm and RISC-V-based processors for IoT and industrial markets. A dedicated open source advocate for more than 15 years, Takehisa has also served on the board of directors for the Civil Infrastructure Platform (CIP) project since 2017 and joined the Linux Foundation Board in 2023. Renesas, a Linux Foundation member since 2011, has been a consistent contributor to the Linux kernel, ranking among the top 20 companies in the LF Kernel Report.
About Emilio Salvador (Silver Member)
Emilio Salvador is Vice President of Strategy and Developer Relations at GitLab, where he brings more than 20 years of experience in strategy, open source, and developer relations. Throughout his career, Emilio has held leadership positions at Amazon, Google, and Microsoft. Most recently, he led strategy and operations for Developer Advocacy and Experience at Google. Emilio holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management and is a recognized leader in driving open source adoption and engagement among developer communities.
