The Linux Foundation | 15 September 2016
TOKYO, JAPAN and SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(September 14, 2016) – Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard multi-cloud platform, today announced that NTT Communications Corporation, the ICT solutions and international communications business within NTT Group (NYSE: NTT), became the first Japanese company to have its multi-cloud platform certified by the Cloud Foundry Foundation. The certification program is the industry’s only one designed to establish reliable portability across platforms in a multi-vendor, multi-cloud environments.
“NTT Communications is one of the early adopters of Cloud Foundry as a global service provider, and the first to serve APAC enterprise customers. We have accumulated five years of production experiences and expertise in Cloud Foundry since 2012,” said Mr. Masaaki Moribayashi, Senior Vice President, NTT Communications. “This important certification reinforces our direction to actively promote the industry standards backed by the Foundation, and to deliver our open cloud environments on a global basis through Enterprise Cloud.”
The Cloud Foundry PaaS Certification ensures application and skill portability across any cloud service, or on-premises software product offering Cloud Foundry. The Cloud Foundry Certified mark is only awarded to products and services meeting the strict technical requirements outlined by the Foundation’s technical governing body. Products called “Cloud Foundry” can only use that designation after meeting Cloud Foundry Certification standards. Products must re-certify every year.
Cloud Foundry is collectively developed by Cisco, EMC, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, Pivotal, SAP, VMware, and leaders in manufacturing, telecommunications and financial services. Only Cloud Foundry delivers the velocity needed to continuously deliver apps at the speed of business. Cloud Foundry’s container-based architecture runs apps in any language on your choice of cloud — Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Platform (GCP), OpenStack, VMware vSphere, SoftLayer and more. With a robust services ecosystem and simple integration with existing technologies, Cloud Foundry is the modern standard for mission critical apps for global organizations.
“The certification of NTT Communications cements the relationship between one of the largest data center operators in Asia and Europe with Cloud Foundry,” said Sam Ramji, CEO, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “Cloud Foundry Certified platforms allow organizations to use the cloud that’s the best fit for their workloads, based on business needs for security, compliance, performance, and speed of development.”
