The Linux Foundation | 15 December 2016
SAN FRANCISCO, CA–(December 15, 2016) – Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, today announced Google has joined as a Gold Member. Google joins EMC, HPE, IBM, Pivotal, SAP, VMware and more than 60 other technology innovators as a Foundation member. Through its membership, Google will continue to encourage companies to adopt open source technologies in order to realize the full benefits of high quality, agile software delivery in the cloud.
“Our goal with GCP is to build an open cloud for all businesses and we see active participation with the open source community as an essential part of this mission,” said Brian Stevens, VP Cloud Platforms, Google. “We have been working on several CFF projects this year, including optimizing Cloud Foundry on GCP. We look forward to our continued work together to drive the development of open source cloud solutions for enterprises.”
“Google joining as a Gold Member is a huge step forward for what the Foundation wants to accomplish in 2017 and beyond,” said Abby Kearns, executive director, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “Cloud Foundry and Google can better work together with the rest of our community to facilitate the transition to a multi-cloud infrastructure for businesses worldwide.”
Cloud Foundry is collectively developed by Cisco, EMC, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, IBM, Pivotal, SAP, SUSE, VMware, and leaders in manufacturing, telecommunications and financial services. Only Cloud Foundry delivers the velocity needed to continuously deliver apps at the speed of business.
