Linux Foundation Energy Announces Agenda for LF Energy Summit, 5-6 September in Brussels

Premier gathering of LF Energy project communities to gather speakers from energy generation, transmission, distribution, technology, government, and more

SAN FRANCISCO, CA – June 12, 2024 – LF Energy, the open source foundation focused on harnessing the power of collaborative software and hardware technologies to accelerate the energy transition, is pleased to announce the lineup of sessions for LF Energy Summit, taking place September 5-6, 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. The summit will gather members of the LF Energy community including foundation members, developers, vendors, utilities, and other stakeholders to learn about LF Energy and its projects as well as to collaborate and share best practices for developing and implementing open source technologies and standards in the energy sector. 

Keynote sessions being announced today include:

  • The Role of Data Sharing and Infrastructure in Energy Data Infrastructure of Emerging Markets – Fang Fang, NEO BV; Neelima Janardhanan, Open Data Services Co-operative; Anders Pedersen, World Bank / Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP); Dan Travers, Open Climate Fix
  • Building an Open Source Business: the LF Energy SEAPATH Example – Christophe Villemer, Savoir-faire Linux
  • The Strategic Benefits of Open Source Collaboration for the Energy Transition and Policy – Lucian Balea, RTE; Dan Brown, LF Energy; Savannah Goodman, Google; Antonello Monti, RWTH Aachen University; Jonas van den Bogaard, Alliander N.V.

Additional keynotes will be announced in the coming weeks.

The agenda also includes over 40 breakout sessions over two days. Highlights include:

  • Why Open Standards are Important for the Energy Sector, and How to Progress Them – Minh Dupuis, GE Vernova; Savannah Goodman, Google; Nico Rikken, Alliander; Alex Thornton, LF Energy

Other activities offered to attendees of LF Energy Summit include a series of technical workshops and demonstrations of LF Energy’s suite of over 30 open source technologies for energy systems, in addition to numerous networking opportunities.
