Japanese Technology Leader LY Corporation Aims to Deepen Open Source Engagement and Enhance its Open Source Initiatives.
SAN FRANCISCO – April 15, 2025 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, today welcomed LY Corporation as a Gold Member of the foundation. LY Corporation, established in October 2023 through the merger of Z Holdings and its subsidiaries—including LINE Corporation and Yahoo! Japan—is one of Japan's largest technology companies, offering a diverse range of services in search, e-commerce, communications, and advertising.

LY Corporation has consistently and deeply engaged with open source over the years, starting from its origins as Yahoo! JAPAN and LINE Corporation. The company has developed and supported a variety of open source tools and libraries, including Armeria, NGT, and Promgen. As one of the first web-based business entities in Japan to become a Gold Member of the Linux Foundation, LY Corporation aims to deepen its engagement with the open source community, contribute to key projects, and leverage the Linux Foundation's expertise to enhance its open source initiatives.
