World’s largest home improvement retailer to drive innovative cloud-based products and services
SAN FRANCISCO, October 11, 2017 – Cloud Foundry Foundation, home of the industry-standard platform for cloud applications, announced today that The Home Depot®, the world’s largest home improvement retailer, has joined the Foundation. The Home Depot joins the ranks of Allianz, American Airlines, Ford, Google, GE, Microsoft and Swisscom as a Foundation Gold member. Cloud Foundry users now make up more than 40 percent of the Foundation membership. At this tier, The Home Depot has the benefit of nominating a candidate for one of two designated Gold seats on the Cloud Foundry Board of Directors.
“We’re committed to making The Home Depot experience the best it can be for our customers,” said Paul Gaffney, senior vice president – Information Technology, The Home Depot. “The efficiency and resiliency of the cloud and our commitment to Cloud Foundry will allow us to bring more agile solutions to rapidly respond to our customers and our team.”
In less than two years, The Home Depot has added more than 2,500 developers on Cloud Foundry, maintaining more than 1,600 apps and services in production. In any given month, that cloud handles more than 1.5 billion requests.
“The Home Depot is another example of the world’s most innovative companies using Cloud Foundry to digitally transform their business,” said Abby Kearns, Executive Director, Cloud Foundry Foundation. “Making the shift from being a more traditional retail company to a truly digital organization takes a lot of hard work and focus. I am truly awed by the speed with which The Home Depot — one of the largest companies in the world — has made this shift.”
