Open source software has the power to affect our lives in ways few imagined even a decade ago, spurring innovation across all manner of industries. This year’s LinuxCon + CloudOpen + Embedded Linux Conference Europe will provide in-depth technical sessions covering the topics most critical to advancing this work. These events include more than a dozen keynotes and over 200 sessions demonstrating the wide variety of use cases for open source software including Linux, embedded systems and the cloud. Everything from the basics of the kernel to new technologies such as containers will be covered.

The keynote speakers will focus on the trends having the biggest impact on open source development today. This includes topics that are hot in the press such as containers and IoT, but also ones of equal importance including hardware, networking, cloud applications, and of course the Linux kernel itself.

“LinuxCon, CloudOpen and Embedded Linux Conference bring together the top-level developers, maintainers and system administrators powering open source in Europe,” said Amanda McPherson, chief marketing officer, The Linux Foundation, and creator of LinuxCon and CloudOpen. “These European events are our most popular events globally, and no other venue gathers so many leading minds in open source development in one place, offering the opportunity to learn and collaborate about the latest trends. From cloud and containers, to IoT and drones, this is the place to be.”

Session highlights include:

  • Manageable Application Containers: Lightning Quick Updates, Scaleable Security, Easy High Availability (Florian Haas, Hastexo)

  • How to do Affordable Supercomputing at Home (Kristina Kapanova, IICT, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences)

  • System Recovery with BTRFS and Snapshots / Rollback (Thorsten Kukuk, SUSE)

  • An Introduction for OpenStack Discovering Hardware Properties of Baremetal Nodes (Yuiko Mori, NEC)

  • Improving Drone Flight Safety Through Machine Learning (Jonathan Pelham, PhD student in the Integrated Vehicle Health Management Centre at Cranfield University)

  • Linux In a Lightbulb – How Far Are We on Tinification? (Pieter Smith, Philips Innovation Services)

The full schedule of sessions is available here.

On top of the unrivalled educational opportunities presented to attendees, this trio of events also includes a multitude of chances to go ‘Behind the Code’ and meet and network with the community. Events include a happy hour booth crawl with sponsors, an offsite all-attendee reception, and more. Additional details on social and networking activities will be announced in the coming weeks, in addition to other special events focused on community diversity and helping bring new members into the community.

Registration is $725 through July 25, and includes full access to all LinuxCon, CloudOpen and Embedded Linux Conference sessions, activities and select co-located events. Unlike many conferences with complicated registration structures, one ticket gets you access to your pick of over 200 sessions at any of the three events. Please visit http://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/linuxcon-europe/attend/register to register.

These events are made possible by sponsors including LinuxCon + CloudOpen Platinum Sponsors HP, Huawei, IBM, Intel, and SUSE; ELC Platinum Sponsor Intel; LinuxCon + CloudOpen Gold Sponsors GitHub, Red Hat, and Samsung; LinuxCon + CloudOpen Silver Sponsors Citrix, ENEA, Fox Technologies, Google, and Open Interconnect Consortium (OIC); ELC Silver Sponsors GENIVI and Google; LinuxCon + CloudOpen Bronze sponsors Credativ, Elastic, GlobalLogic, Igalia, Proofpoint, SCOPE, and UEFI Forum; and ELC Bronze Sponsors Altera, Dog Hunter and Olimex.
