Premier open source event combines LinuxCon, ContainerCon, CloudOpen, Open Community Conference and Diversity Empowerment Summit with co-located Embedded Linux Conference
SAN FRANCISCO, August 22, 2017 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, today announced the program for Open Source Summit Europe and the co-located Embedded Linux Conference Europe, taking place simultaneously, October 23-26 in Prague, Czech Republic.
Open Source Summit Europe is the premier open source technical conference in Europe, gathering 2,000 developers, operators and community leadership professionals to collaborate, share information and learn about the latest in open technologies, including Linux, containers, cloud computing and more.
Embedded Linux Conference Europe is the premier vendor-neutral technical conference for companies and developers using Linux in embedded products. Now in its 12th year, the conference gathers user-space developers, product vendors, kernel and systems developers to collaborate.
Open Source Summit Europe combines the existing LinuxCon, ContainerCon and CloudOpen conferences with the all new Open Community Conference and Diversity Empowerment Summit:
LinuxCon
LinuxCon is the event where the leading maintainers, developers and project leads in the Linux community from around the world gather together for updates, education, collaboration and problem-solving to further the Linux ecosystem.
ContainerCon
Containers are revolutionizing the way we automate, deploy and scale workloads, and ContainerCon is the place to learn about how to best use these technologies to your advantage. The event brings together leading experts in both the development and operations community to share ideas and best practices for how containers are shaping computing today and in the future with a focus on DevOps culture, automation, portability and efficiency.
CloudOpen
CloudOpen is the only event providing space for education and collaboration designed specifically to advance the open cloud. The conference gathers top professionals to discuss cloud platforms, automation and management tools, DevOps, virtualization, containers, software-defined networking, storage & filesystems, big data tools and platforms, open source best practices and much more.
Open Community Conference
The Open Community Conference provides world-class content and networking for building empowered and productive open source communities. The event provides presentations, tutorials, panel discussions, and networking opportunities that bring together some of the leading practitioners to share their expertise in how you can build powerful communities. The Open Community Conference is led by Jono Bacon, a global leader in community strategy and management, author of The Art of Community, and community leadership consultant to many organizations including Huawei, HackerOne, Microsoft, GitLab, Creative Commons, Sony Mobile, ClusterHQ, and others.
Diversity Empowerment Summit
After receiving a large number of high quality diversity-related submissions for Open Source Summit North America, The Linux Foundation added a new Diversity Empowerment Summit to the schedule in order to accommodate all the great talks. The goal of the summit is to help promote and facilitate an increase in diversity, inclusion, empowerment and social innovation in the open source community, and to provide a venue for discussion and collaboration. In addition to the sessions at DES, many diversity-focused talks were also accepted for the other four events.
In addition to previously announced keynotes speakers, over 200 educational sessions are on offer at Open Source Summit and Embedded Linux Conference.
