Innovators from China, Germany, Japan, North America, Norway, South Korea and the United Kingdom join to support development of the greatest shared technology investment in history
SAN FRANCISCO – February 28, 2017 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, announced that in January of this year, 29 organizations joined the Foundation as Silver members. Linux Foundation members help support development of the greatest shared technology resources in history, while accelerating their own innovation through open source leadership and participation.
From networking and the Internet of Things to cloud and container-based technologies, open source has become the de facto standard for software development. The Linux Foundation hosts projects that unite technologists and business leaders to create sustainable open source ecosystems to support the ongoing success of these technologies.
“The Linux Foundation provides a neutral home for collaborative development,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director, The Linux Foundation. “Member investments like we’re seeing today help ensure the communities hosted here are sustainable long term with the tools needed to create scalable and highly interoperable computing infrastructure.”
In addition to joining the Foundation, many new members have joined Linux Foundation projects such as Automotive Grade Linux, Cloud Native Computing Foundation, Hyperledger and Zephyr Project. For a full list of members, visit https://www.linuxfoundation.org/members/corporate.
