Recorded April 26, 2022

Enterprises are moving to an open-source cloud native infrastructure and application tech stack at an unprecedented rate, yet observability tools to keep all that running still tend to be proprietary and expensive. Containerization, orchestration, and open standards for metrics, logs, traces, and flows have ushered in a new era of monitoring tools that are becoming the new foundation for instrumentation in the enterprise.
Join Matt Surabian, Director, DevOps Engineering, Avis Budget Group (ZipCar) where he’ll discuss his journey to modern observability leveraging open-source technology and:
- Avis’s business drivers and transition to a modern cloud-native architecture
- Avis’s experience with Cloud Native Computing Foundation observability project tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Lens, etc.)
- The partnership with OpsCruise in unifying the open-source tools through its SmartLayer
- Example application problems in Avis that were diagnosed and solved with the OpsCruise platform powered by CNCF projects
